The 2018 Riviera Rendezvous kicked off Friday June 8th at Roche Harbor, WA.

Guests from the PNW and Canada gathered to take part in the 2018 Riviera Rendezvous!

The number of yachts registered and guests attending reached a new height this year with 44 yachts and over 160 guests. This year’s Western Theme was evident as you walked up and down the docks. There were lots of cowboy hats, bandanas and ‘howdy partners’!

The Rendezvous weekend began Friday afternoon with happy hour and potluck on the guest dock! We provided local flavors from San Juan Island Brewing and specialty wine poured from Pearl & Stone Wine Co. We enjoyed country music and a wonderful potluck where our guests had the opportunity to stand out and win a prize for ‘best dish’.

Our cohost Van Isle Marina launched Saturdays festivities with coffee, donuts and mimosa’s on the guest dock. A special treat we look forward to every year!

We were fortunate to have three different speakers enlighten our guests, the first was Jeff Fehr from Fehrway Marine. Jeff brought his professional and personal knowledge about anchoring and taught many of our guests helpful do’s and don’ts. Jeff has years of experience yachting and especially anchoring in north west waters, and our guests had a chance to have their questions answered by a professional. Our second guest Fred Robinson from Fred Robinson Law provided tons of information regarding why forming an LLC for the purchase of your boat benefits you tax wise, and protects your personal liability.

Lastly, we were fortunate to hear from Taylor Shedd & Frances Robertson from the Sound Watch Boater Education organization. They guided us through their research regarding safety when boating around whales. A study is being conducted where a flag is flown to warn boaters in the area that there are whales.

Saturday continued with fun games organized and led by Mike Wiggings! He did not disappoint, because there were many laughs and lots photos of the games. Take a look!

Dinner was hosted by our office and we invited our guests over to Shipwreck Beach. A stunning event space located at Roche Harbor,  we corralled under the tent for good food and music, and watched the sunset by the firepit. We had sirloin roasting over the fire hours before guests arrived, and it was by far the spotlight of our dinner!

Local singer Megs McLean and her Band led us happily through the evening by singing country hits and favorites while our guests danced.

We thank all those who attended and sponsored this event. It is our honor to host the annual Riviera Rendezvous, so that we can share these fun times with each other and make new friends.
